Deaf Families Bay Area
Supporting families with Deaf and Hard of Hearing children through playgroups and resources
๐ About Us
Deaf Families Bay Area supports families raising Deaf and Hard of Hearing children from birth through high school across the greater Bay Area. We run weekly ASL playgroups for infants and toddlers, a Saturday morning ASL Story Time at Oakland Public Library, parent education workshops on topics like IEP advocacy and assistive technology, and family-friendly social events throughout the year. Our mentor family program connects newly-identified families with experienced Deaf and CODA families for peer guidance. We serve families using ASL, spoken language, or a combination โ our only requirement is a commitment to giving Deaf children full access to language and community.
