📝 About Us

The SF Deaf Arts Collective champions Deaf artistic expression across all media — ASL poetry, visual vernacular, film, painting, sculpture, and theater. We produce the annual Bay Area Deaf Film Festival, run quarterly ASL Open Mic Nights at Oakland performance venues, and curate pop-up gallery exhibitions featuring Deaf visual artists. Our education programs include filmmaking workshops for Deaf youth, an artist residency at our Mission District studio, and collaborations with hearing arts organizations to ensure Deaf perspectives are represented in mainstream cultural programming. The Collective is Deaf-led and centers Deaf aesthetics in everything we do.
